Annual Match

East Lothian v Co-optimist RFC

Wednesday 26th April 2023

Hallhill Sports Centre

Dunbar RFC

Kick Off 6.45PM

This years match will be played at the ground of Dunbar RFC at The Hallhill Sports Centre .This will be the 99th year since the fixture began when a team raised by Jock Wemyss (Haddington) and George St Clair Murray (Watsonians) competed against Haddington in  1924.

The match is played in a great spirit eptomising all that is good in the game  of rugby football. Fast running rugby and an occasion to be enjoyed by all who attend, be they players, officials or spectators.  The evening of Wednesday April 26th sees the two sides pitted against each other as a tribute to the first ever fixture for the Co-Optimists back in 1924. The East Lothian side is made up of representatives from their respective clubs Musselburgh, Preston Lodge, Haddington, Ross High, North Berwick and Dunbar. The venue alternates between these clubs each year.

The fixture remains in place today as a piece of rugby tradition untouched by the modern era.

Come along on the 26th April enjoy it.
