East Lothian v Co-optimists

Updated: Mar 26

April 15th 2026

Venue North Berwick RFC

Kick Off 6:30pm

In this the 101st year since the fixture began the teams will compete for the Ken Macaulay memorial cup. The cup has been donated by the Macaulay family to commemorate his memory and his love for the game of rugby.

After an illustrious rugby career which gave him a Scottish cap and playing the game for Gala and then Heriots Ken followed in his father’s footsteps - AA Macaulay (Gala and West of Scotland) – in his connection with the Co-optimists. He was an enthusiastic player and supporter for the Co-ops and served as Secretary to the club in the 1980s.  He also spent many years as a player and supporter of North Berwick and played on both sides of the East Lothian v Co-optimists annual contest over the years. Ken’s wife Pat will present the cup to the winning team.

The match is always keenly contested so come along, it’s a family affair and enjoy some fast open fun rugby. No admission charge but there will be a collection for the Chest Heart and Stroke Scotland charity. Please give what you can to this worthy cause.

North Berwick is a fitting venue for this first Macaulay cup competition. May the best team win.
